Both geared and gearless elevators work in the same way to pull the cabin through the rolling steel ropes that pass over the electric motor using the standing wheel. The only difference is the standing wheel which will be attached in the motor room whereas in the gearless elevator, the standing wheel will be attached to the cabin without demanding a motor room.
